AllClear - DWR/Why?

WHY TEST MY WATER?

Water is such complex stuff, that you can never put the same purifier on all the different types of water and get the same performance.

Examples:

(1) If your water only contains free chlorine, 'dechlorinating' purification media will be effective for far longer than if chloramine is in the water as well.

(2) Copper could be in the water at 5 ug/l, 50 ug/l, 100 ug/l, 150 ug/l or even more.

The 'right' media will have a long effective life on water containing 5 ug/l of
copper and a far shorter life on water containing 150 ug/l.

Unless you know what is in your water and how much of each substance there is, you cannot possibly know what purifier to buy or how often to replace the purification media. Nor can any professional water treatment company offer you good advice.

The trick when planning to use a purifier for fish water treatment is to forget the word 'purifier' and substitute the word 'protection'. What purifiers are for in the 'fish' world is fish protection. If you don't find out about your water you risk failing to protect your fish and wasting your money by getting the wrong equipment or using it incorrectly.
